The feedback has been nothing but positive and next week I hope to begin selling this set locally. After that I will be making so many more and hope to have some available on-line!

Aren’t they super cute!?

Thundercats Revealed

Dearest loyal fans… I finally give to you Thundercats!

There is a disclaimer… At this point men’s shoes are for art only and not for wearing! I have yet to find a men’s shoe that is stiff enough to take the process and still be worn. If you want men’s shoes for display only; I’m more than happy to make them. If you want men’s shoes for wearing; I am still working on finding the right shoe for my work.

Now….

Look at Lion-O and Pantro! They made these toes look great!

IMG_0741[1] This actually lined up in a cool way! Lion-O is on the toe, a totally separate image of the Sword of Omens is on the side toe, and pointing at Mumm-Ra! I didn’t plan that!

IMG_0740[1] Many images had to be built due to the size of the shoe (15)! Thundercats logo (above) and the signature call to battle, the faces, and the Thunderkittens (below) were all built by me.

Wily-Kit and Wily-Kat just had to make it on to the shoe!

IMG_0742[1]  What are our cats without the villains?! Mumm-Ra had a feature spot, but I had to include Slithe, Monkian, and Vultureman (not visible).

I do hope y’all enjoy the Thundercats as much as I do! I loved them as a child and I’m so appreciative of Lisa for having me put them on a shoe for her man!

Tribute: H.R. Giger

Oh no! We are so sad here at Shoes a la Art!

Funk's House of Geekery

We have received the news that artist H.R. Giger has died at the age of 74 as a result of injuries suffered by falling down stair in his home.

It’s not often that a set and art director becomes a household name. It would be easy to assume that everyone reading a site with ‘geekery’ in the URL is familiar with the man’s work, if only for one thing.

alienThis thing.

That wee beastie would be enough to score Giger a tribute in these parts, but we’d be remiss not to draw attention to his other designs. Having been born in Switzerland in 1940 Giger moved into interior design. He started working in inks and oil paints as a form of art therapy. Giger suffered from night terrors and the images that invaded his sleep inspired his work. Let’s take a moment to appreciate just how terrifying that must’ve been for the…

Around the World in Ten Photos

Let’s put on our Art shoes and travel together!

The WordPress.com Blog

A big part of photography is understandinglight — its strength, tone, and direction. These ten WordPress.com photographers from around the world show us that from dawn to dusk, there are beautifully lit moments just waiting to be captured.

Janice Meyers got this shot of the Salamanca Cathedral in Salamanca, Spain, just as the early morning sky began to turn from black to blue. We love how the warm glow of the streetlights contrasts with the deep, moody sky:

Salamanca, just before sunrise.Salamanca, just before sunrise.

The sun was a bit higher in the sky when Robin Kent of Photography by Kent caught the first rays of light over Washington, DC’s Tidal Basin, and cherry trees. The pink glow of the imminent sunrise echoes the delicate hue of the famed blossoms:

Daybreak over Washington, D.C..Daybreak over Washington, DC.

On the other side of the US a full sun bathes different pink flowers — a field of…
